What Type of Oil Does My Car Need?

There are so many options to choose from when it comes to changing your oil. Let us simplify it for you! There are 4 general types of oil:

  1. Conventional - ideal for light-duty, late-model cars with low to average mileage and a simple engine design

  2. High-Mileage - specifically designed for cars with more than 75,000 miles.

  3. Synthetic Blend - best of both worlds. It has many of the characteristics of full synthetic oil, but at a much lower price.

  4. Full-Synthetic - ideal for vehicles that demand peak level performance and high levels of lubrication.

Now consider the following:

  • Driving Conditions - harsh conditions require the engine to do more work.

  • Manufacturer's Specifications - determine which motor oil is recommended to protect your vehicle.

  • Age of Car - older, light-duty vehicles typically recommend conventional oil.

  • Driving Distance - recommend high-mileage for long distances.

  • Climate - colder climate necessitates the need for a lower viscosity grade engine oil to ensure proper and adequate flow of oil to protect key critical engine components especially during cold startup.

  • Driving Habits

  • Engine Type
